Edward Allen McKeesport Edward "Jello" Allen, 64, of McKeesport, departed this life Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at West Penn Hospital (Hospice). Born Oct. 11, 1947, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Robert Allen Sr. and Sarah Lee Gunn Allen. He was employed as a counselor at the YMCA in Hazelwood. He is survived by brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Allen Jr., of Charlotte, N.C., and Charles Allen, of McKeesport; sisters, Barbara Green, of McKeesport, Clara Howard, of Leesburg, Fla., Sarah (Ernest) Meadows, of McKeesport, and Rosalie Allen, of Leesburg, Fla.; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the McKeesport Towers. All friends are welcome to attend. Arrangements entrusted to D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME CREMATORY LTD., Lawrenceville.

ANDREWS MARTIN F.
Age 65, of McKeesport, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born Nov. 23, 1949, in McKeesport, son of the late Thomas, Sr. and Mabel Mack Andrews. Also preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn Gault Andrews on September 2, 2014. He was a graduate of McKeesport High School. He later attended Beckley College, Beckley, WV, Marshall University, Huntington, WV, Carnegie Mellon University and LaRoche College, Pgh. He was a retired teacher from the Duquesne City School District. He was previously employed with the McKeesport Area School District, Point Park College and the Allegheny County Housing Authority. A 50-plus year member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., member of the Pittsburgh Iota Phi Chapter and life member of the NAACP. Surviving are his children, Martin "Blaze" (Lori) Andrews of Irwin, Mysty Conway of North Versailles, and Jade Lynne (Shomari) Andrews-Whyte of Fairfield, CA; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Ruthie M. (Norman) Buckner and Geneva L. "Cookie" Andrews (Ernie) both of McKeesport; brothers, Vernon E. (Heather) Andrews of McKeesport, Thomas Andrews, Jr. (Helen) of Irwin, and David E. (Katrina) Andrews of McKeesport; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Friends will be received Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 716 Walnut St., McKeesport, with services Sat., Nov. 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Earlene Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Local arrangements entrusted to the ROBERT A. WATERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., McKeesport.

Myles H. Andrews, age 72, of McKeesport passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Born November 16, 1949 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Henry and Helen (Brodzinski) Andrews. Myles attended Lafayette University on a football scholarship and was a member of the Phi Delta Fraternity. He went on to work as a teacher at McKeesport High School for 28 years, and coached football at McKeesport High School for many years. He also owned Myles Andrews Landscaping for 20+ years. He was also a member of Corpus Christi Church (Mary Mother of God Parish) in McKeesport. Myles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia (Ballas) Andrews; son Joshua Andrews of Morgantown, WV; daughter Melissa (Matt) Slotter of Hempfield; and grandchildren Jayla  Andrews, and Adalynn and Claudia Slotter. A memorial mass will be held for Myles on Tuesday, August 16, 2022  at 10 AM at Corpus Christi Church (Mary Mother of God Parish)  with Fr. Terry O’Connor officiating. All other services are private at the request of the family.

Wesley J. Beam


Army veteran, avid sports fan


Wesley J. “Wes” Beam, 64, of Canonsburg, formerly of McKeesport, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013, in Canonsburg General Hospital.


He was born August 15, 1949, in McKeesport, a son of the late Donald W. and Margy A. Zimmerman Beam.


Mr. Beam lived most of his life in McKeesport, where he was a graduate of McKeesport Area High School.


He was Methodist.


Mr. Beam had been employed for many years at U.S. Steel Irvin Works. He was last employed in security for Verizon.


He was a U.S. Army veteran, who received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Achievement for his service in the Republic of Viet Nam.


An avid sports fan, he loved music, crossword puzzles and enjoyed reading.


Surviving are a sister, Sheri (Mike) Mitchell of Canonsburg; a brother, Gary (Carol) Beam of North Strabane Township; and nieces and nephews, Brittany and Chad Mitchell and Caitlin, Allyson and Patrick Beam.


Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, with pastor Max Miller officiating. Interment will follow at 10 a.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Full military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.

I went to 11th Ward school with "Joe" - we were Christy Parkers and he was a kind and most
gentle spirited guy.  I often think about the class when we were all together through grade school.  In fact I have the picture posted in the grade school section of this site.  He was a great  guy!
