Michael Francis Yedinak (known as Sarge)

passed away on November 13, 2015. He was 66 years of age. Mike was born on 29May1949 in Offenbach, Germany. He came to the United States in 1952 and lived in McKeesport, PA, graduating high school in 1967. He entered the United States Air Force in 1968 and retired in 1988 after 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. In 1988 Sarge became an Air Force Junior ROTC Instructor at Lowell High School and devoted 24 years towards educating and building character in our young men and women. In August 2012 until October 2014 he was employed as a utility clerk at Strack and Van Til in Lowell having the good fortune to work with and meet many wonderful people from our surrounding communities.

Mike was enrolled in the Community College of the Air Force and Colorado Tech. University earning 3.5 years towards an Associate degree. He was a graduate of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy with the USAF in 1980. He was selected as an Outstanding Air Force Junior ROTC instructor in 1993 and High School Teacher of the year in 2001-2002 sponsored by the VFW state program.



Sarge was a lifetime member of Lowell VFW Post 6841. He contributed countless hours with his cadets towards community service, parades, Color and Honor Guard presentations. Mike had a lust for life and adventure, enjoyed to travel seeing most of the United States and 24 countries of the world. Nature and gardening were very dear to his heart.



Survivors, wife, Kimberley Padgett; mother, Helene Yedinak of McKeesport, PA; brother, James Yedinak of Monongahela, PA; sister, Bridget Rouser of Wexford, PA; sons, Steven Yedinak of East Lake, Ohio, Erik Yedinak of Cedar Lake, IN; stepdaughter, Jamie Seay of Portage, IN; stepson, Bill Padgett; grandchildren, Miranda, Layne, Alexis, Morgan, and Leah.

Visitation, Tuesday, November 17th from 3-8PM at Sheets Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave, Lowell, IN. Private cremation with interment following in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. www,sheetsfuneral.com

 Mike was a great freind to me as well as my cousin (he had the "i" in our last name, my dad took it out.)  Even though he was out of state for most of his life,  we always talked at Christmas time and exchanged cards.  Oh Mike, I was so hoping you would make it for the 50th reunion- my heart misses you so very much .
