Virginia "Ginger" M. (Luketic) Elder, age 68, of Pittsburgh, died March 2, 2018, at UPMC Shadyside. Born July 24, 1949, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Stephen E. and Catherine V. (Kesser) Luketic and the wife of the late Dean E. Elder.
Ginger worked for the VA Hospital System, where, after a long career as a nurse, she retired from the VA Credentialing Department. She was a world-traveler who loved music and going to live concerts, and was a great cultivator of lasting friendships. She was a dedicated mother and friend. She is survived her son, Brendan Elder of Pittsburgh; step-sons, Daniel (Stephanie Vincent) Elder of Pittsburgh and James Elder of Pittsburgh; siblings, Edward (Naleen) Luketic of McKeesport, Eugene (Margaret) Luketic of White Oak, Kathleen (Kenneth) Hartos of Elizabeth and Richard Luketic of McKeesport; also many nieces and nephews, and dear friends worldwide, all who will miss her exuberant spirit. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a step-son, Brian Elder. Family and friends are invited to join in a joyous celebration of Ginger's life at the Petra International Ministries, 235 East Gate Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15235, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, starting at 12 p.m. followed by a memorial at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Petra International Ministries in appreciation for their unlimited kindness and comfort during this difficult time.

Went to elementary school with Ginger at Sacred Heart school. Sorry to hear of her passing.
tribute by Joe OchapI remember Ginger as so pleasant, happy, bubbly and one of the "cool" kids. So glad that I got to see her at our 50th reunion a little over 6 months later she is gone. So long Ginger, I'm sure I'll see you again!
