Mary Ellen (Brush) Beres, 69, of Hutchinson, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at home. She was born July 27, 1949, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (LaCivita) Brush. Mary Ellen received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree from California University and was a retired professor and counselor in charge of disability accommodations at Westmoreland County Community College. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Herminie. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Andrew "Steve" Beres Jr.; her children, Joanna E. Beres, of Hutchinson, Stephanie M. (Steven) Parrett, of Chambersburg, and Andrew S. Beres III, of Fox Chapel; her sisters, Joanne (Lawrence) Burns, of Latrobe, and Janet (Donald) Rugh, of Jeannette; also nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Edward Catholic Church, 120 St. Edward Lane, Herminie, PA 15637. Those attending the Mass, please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
